the Pits at Sebring, FL Race - March 2006 The Gurney Terrace overlooks the pits at the East end of the pit lane, which is referred to as "pit out". Luckily I had guessed the Corvette C6R pits would be in that area. The Yellow tents are the #3 and #4 C6R pits. This is early race day AM.
The same pits on Thursday during the SCCA Pro Series practice session. Barely visible are the Cadillac Crests on the roof of the two Caddy CTS sedans using them. Someone said they were just C6R's with a Caddy skin. Ran like they were.
The lunch wagon in the pits on race day. Ron Fellows had just finished his turn in the #3 C6R Corvette. I did not hear him say Ham and Cheese please.
The #3 and #4 Corvette team members in the pits early on race day just after lunch.
Throughout the race, members of team Corvette were glued to the ten or so TV monitors that had a live feed of all the track side TV cameras. Plus there were plenty of laptops in use recording every thing but the Sopranos.
There must be at least 30 and maybe even 40 team members for each entry #3 and #4.
Ron Fellows being interviewed or debriefed by this fellow in the Photo/TV vest. But, he was also wearing the same Yellow and White team Corvette Nomex suit and even has a Corvette baseball cap. So I'm not sure he was an independent press journalist like me.
Saturday race day around Sunset. About 8 hours of the race have elapsed and the drivers are racing down the Ulmann straight behind this building right into the Sunset. Then they turn right, in Turn 17 to the front straight and pit lane.
Around every hour the Corvettes would enter the pits to gas up, change drivers and tires. Ron Fellows between his drives. Regretfully I missed the other drivers, and only got some poor shots.
The Corvette pits with about 30 minutes left in the race.
Another night time view of the pit lane.
And another.
These team members are already taking apart the canopies that mount between the #3 and #4 team race car semi tractor trailers. They don't get to see the race.
The unofficial results early Sunday AM.
